Chris Mole has backed a campaign by children’s charity 4Children, which is urging MPs to ‘Shout out for Sure Start’ in their local area.

Chris joined former ‘Mum of the Year’ Melinda Messenger and children’s TV star Peppa Pig to back the campaign, which is urging MPs to make protecting their Sure Start centres a top priority in the coming election campaign. The campaign believes that an investment in children is an investment in our future and that every child deserves the chance to go to a Sure Start centre.

Backing the campaign, Chris, who accompanied Gordon Brown on a visit to Hilside Children's Centre on Monday, said:

“I wholeheartedly support this excellent campaign by 4Children to make Sure Start centres a key issue in the coming election.

“Sure Start is one of the proudest boasts of this Labour Government. When I visit Ipswich’s 12 centres I always leave impressed at how they are transforming the lives of both children and parents in our communities.

Also showing her support for ‘Shout out for Sure Start’, former ‘Mum of the Year’ Melinda Messenger said:

“Like so many other parents I know that bringing up children is one of the most joyful and rewarding experiences in life, but also at times challenging and demanding. That is why it is so important that parents know there is help and support at hand. This is what Sure Start is all about.”
