26.01.2012 Phil Smart welcomes extended Buzabout service

Residents living in the Wherstead Road area of Ipswich will be able to use the Buzabout community transport service on Friday and Saturday evenings from 3rd February.

The minibus can pick them up and drop them back at any of the bus stops along Wherstead Road between Bourne Bridge and the Rapier Street roundabout. It will be able to take passengers to Cardinal Park, the Old Cattle Market Bus Station, the Waterfront and Ipswich Rail Station, where they can have an evening out or catch other public transport services for onward travel.

To use the service, please telephone Suffolk ACRE on 0845 458 1920 between 9am and 4pm Wednesdays to Fridays. Please do this at least 24 hours in advance of when you want to travel to avoid disappointment. The minibus itself operates between 7pm and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. A single fare costs 2 and all journeys are subject to availability.

Councillor Phil Smart, Ipswich Borough Council transport portfolio-holder, said: "I am pleased to support this scheme which extends people's choice and makes public transport available on busy weekend evenings. It is good for Ipswich and for people I represent in Bridge Ward."
