Following a ballot of Constituency Labour Parties, Cath Pickles, a writer and former District Councillor from Southwold, was selected with a clear majority of them voting to select her.

Cath Pickles commented,

“I am delighted to receive the support of Labour Party members in Suffolk and I look forward to campaigning with them to deliver a Police and Crime Commissioner who will stand up for our local communities in the years ahead.

“Violent crime is up by 36% across Suffolk at the same time that police numbers have been slashed. The choice at the election will be between a Labour commissioner who will stand up to the government's cuts to policing, or a Tory commissioner who will back them all the way.

“If elected, I will work tirelessly to keep our communities safe and protect our police officers and PCSOs on the front-line.”
