You'd expect the Labour Party, nationally and in the East of England, to be at the top of this list. Several local Labour Parties, Labour MPs and candidates in Suffolk and North Essex have websites. You might like to visit; Suffolk Coastal, Colchester and Harwich Labour Parties, Bob Blizzard, Labour MP for Waveney (Lowestoft), Adam Leeder, Labour candidate for Suffolk Coastal, Ivan Henderson, Labour candidate for Clacton, Jordan Newell, Labour candidate for Colchester and Darren Barrenger, Labour candidate for Harwich. Along with trade unions, the co-operative movement was instrumental in the formation of the Labour Party; the Co-operative Party continues this tradition of political activism. There is plenty of vibrant political thought within and around the Labour party, on the broad left of British politics; the Fabian Society, Progress and Compass offer some of the most influential views on the things we all care care about. There are many other "think-tanks" with particular areas of interest. We like; The Work Foundation, The King's Fund, ippr and smf. Launched in January 2009, Labour List has established itself as the UK's leading left political blog. You might also like Left Foot Forward, Tory Stories and the daddy of them all, John Prescott's Go Fourth. These websites, and others, are leading the Left's fight back against Tory/Right domination of the web. We must not forget our own blogging councillor, Alasdair Ross, or that honorary son of Ipswich, Peter Wheeler. About my vote is a web site from The Electoral Commission that is all about voting; from registering to vote to how to vote. The front page has links to all the things you might want to do or know. Local media includes; the BBC, East Anglian Daily Times and Evening Star. | |
