We welcome new Mayor, Glen Chisholm as we thank Bill Quinton for an outstanding year

Attending the annual Mayor Makingceremony always provokes mixed feelings, writes Ipswich Council Leader, David Ellesmere.

We were sad to see the end of the term of office of Bill Quinton who has been an excellent Mayor for Ipswich, ably supported by Barbara and the new civic poochArchie.

But we were also glad to welcome Glen Chisholm as the new Mayor.

Hes much younger than most mayors. Being in full time employment is often too much of a barrier for people of working age. Glens employer LV should be commended for allowing him the flexibility  to undertake his mayoral duties.

The other big difference is that Glens consort will be his son Clinton. This brings down the age of the mayoral team even further! The two make a great team.

Glen will be a very different kind of Mayor for Ipswich and that's no bad thing.
