Jack Abbott, Labour and Co-operative candidate for Ipswich

Jack Abbott is standing to be the Labour and Co-operative MP for Ipswich.

Suffolk has been his home for nearly a quarter of a century – it is where he grew up and went to school and where he’s worked. It is where his family and friends are. In short, it is his home.

And this is why this election is so personal to Jack. He has seen the damage the Conservatives have done to the place he loves, over the last 14 years. Jack sees that people are exhausted, worn down by having to try and make ends meet. He sees their frustration that things don’t seem to work anymore and that they have lost hope that things can get better. He believes this is unforgivable.

Under the Conservatives, Jack has seen our public services reach breaking point with NHS waiting lists through the roof; no-one able to get a dental appointment; schools literally crumbling. If a crime is committed , people tell him they have little faith that justice will be done.

Jack says: “Because of the Conservative government’s shambolic handling of the economy, we are all so much worse off. And if all this isn’t bad enough, rather than getting on with fixing this mess, the current Conservative MP for Ipswich has spent most of the last five years trying to fight culture wars, talking Ipswich down, and driving people and communities apart. This has resulted in so many lost opportunities and so much time wasted, through inaction.”

Jack is standing at the General Election because he is proud of Ipswich, and, recognising the potential it has, wants to deliver the change the town so desperately needs.

He says: “The situation the Labour Party could inherit will not be easy to deal with because the Conservatives have made such a mess of things, but we can and will rebuild our town, and our country. Labour will get Britain building, switch on Great British Energy, get the NHS back on its feet, take back our streets and break down barriers to opportunity.”

Jack Abbott is committed to providing leadership, and promoting unity and ambition through good times and bad.

He says: “I will unite the town, not drive its further communities apart. I will champion Ipswich, instead of talking it down.”

So, Back Jack., and together, we will build a new future for Ipswich.
