Alexandra Ward - John Cook

John is the Labour and Co-operative Party candidate for Alexandra Ward at the Borough Council election on 3rd May 2018.
John has lived in Alexandra Ward - in Grange Road - since moving to Ipswich in February 2000. He joined the Labour Party in Norfolk, and served as a parish, district and county councillor there while he was in his twenties.
Since moving to Ipswich, John has served our local community as a school governor at Clifford Road Primary School and Holywells High School, and as Borough councillor in Priory Heath for four years, and since 2013 in Alexandra Ward.
John is married to Adele, and has one daughter, Kim, and two grandchildren, Lilly and Emily. He works as full time secretary and election agent of Ipswich Labour Party, and is also a director of East of England Co-operative Society.
In his role as a councillor, John chairs the Borough Council's Audit and Governance Committee which is responsible for ensuring the Council is run properly and provides good value for money.
