Bridge Ward - Phil Smart

Phil Smart is the Labour Party candidate for Bridge at the Borough Council election on Thursday 2nd May 2019.

I have been honoured to represent you since 1983. In that time we have seen many changes and faced new challenges.

Public services have been under threat from cuts by central government but here in Ipswich we have stood up for local people.

In the last year we have maintained our bus services, provided more bus shelters, campaigned against the ‘Upper Orwell Crossing’ (that would have brought 7,000 more cars though Bridge ward every day !), installed new play equipment in Bourne Park and are building council houses to give more people the chance of a decent home.

In the Old Stoke area we have supported residents who want to see a ‘resident’s parking’ scheme established and have persuaded Suffolk County Council to prepare a scheme for consultation later this year.

I hope you will give me your continued support by voting for me on May 2nd.
