About Sandy
Sandy needs little introduction to most people in Ipswich. On Thursday 7th June 2017 he was elected as Member of Parliament for Ipswich. He represented St John's division as its County Councillor from 1997 to 2017, and served as leader of the Labour Group of councillors on Suffolk County Council for eight years.
Between 2002 and 2014, Sandy also represented St John's on Ipswich Borough Council. His hard work for local residents helped turn this formerly marginal ward into one of Labour's safest seats in Ipswich and Suffolk.
On both councils, Sandy has championed environmental issues and improved educational opportunities. He has served as a school governor at Copleston High School for many years.
