Sandy backs Girl Guides committed to fighting plastic pollution

Ipswich MP Sandy Martin, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Waste & Recycling, met the Advocate Youth panel from Girlguiding UK prior to their presentation yesterday ‘Facing our Future: Hearing young people’s voices in the fight back against plastic pollution’.

The event was chaired by Angela Salt, CEO of Girlguiding UK, alongside two of the Guide’s Advocate youth panel members.

Sandy Martin said: “Young people are crucial advocates in making plastic pollution socially unacceptable.  We need people to do the right thing and stop using so many single-use plastics, but we also need to invest in ways to help people recycle - such as with deposit return schemes. I am so glad that the Girl Guides not only get this, but are fighting to get the changes we need.”
