Save Suffolk's Remaining Children's Centres

Our children's centres are a vital lifeline for hundreds of families.

With reports that the Conservatives at Suffolk County Council are set to close half of our remaining children's centres, we need to show our support to children and parents across our county by fighting for their survival.

Please sign this petition and help 'Save Suffolk's Children's Centres'.

This is such a short-sighted measure! It is just storing up problems, and much greater ones at that, for the future. :-((((

Signing as a former family support practitioner in a children’s centre, who knows the importance of these services in supporting families, and also as a parent who has benefited from attending many activities at my local children’s centre. These proposed closures would cause many families and children to miss out on important opportunities for social interaction, learning through play and to receive the support necessary to improve their lives.

Don’t decimate the services available to parents and children in Suffolk as they have in Norfolk! Childrens centres can be a vital service for families for many reasons and closing them is a backwards step.

This cutback will be particularly detrimental to families on low incomes who are looking for cost free activities to enjoy with their babies/toddlers. The educative side (advice on parenting etc) will vanish, with a knock on of poor parenting, and problems within families may not be picked up early

Having worked in a childrens centre and am a parent of 2, so used childrens centres also personally, I highly believe this is an awful decision to try and close them down. They offer such a vital service in early interventions for families from all backgrounds. I wouldn’t have got through anxiety after the birth of my first born if it wasn’t for the staff from my local children’s centre and being able to access free groups to talk with other parents in my position.

These services are vital and should not be closed.
