Lynne Mortimer

Elected in 2022, Lynne was born in Ipswich and variously attended Sprites, Castle Hill and Britannia primary schools before going to Northgate and then Ipswich Civic College. After completing a degree in economics and economic history, she came home to Ipswich where, after working for a building society and Volvo Concessionaires, she qualified as a journalist and wrote for the Ipswich Star and East Anglian Daily Times - most recently as a weekly columnist - until 2019. She has been on the governing bodies of three Ipswich schools. With her husband, James, Lynne wrote and directed pantomimes for Landseer Players over the course of 25 years. She has appeared in many plays and musicals with amateur companies and loves to celebrate the rich history and culture of her home town.
