Tech Nation recognition for our town

It’s not just in the arts where Ipswich is gaining national recognition, says David Ellesmere.

We have now been included in the latest “Tech Nation” report which highlights the leading areas of the country where there are clusters of high tech companies.

The previous report had Cambridge and Norwich in the East of England but it was a travesty that Ipswich was not included.

The Greater Ipswich area hosts a large number of high tech companies. BT carries out groundbreaking research and Innovation Martlesham hosts world leading companies such as Cisco, Huawei and Ericsson.

There are exciting new startups such ITO World, Sharedband and Silicon Safe as well as more established companies such as Smart 421 and my own employer HTK.

We are recognised for our strengths in a number of different sectors such as digital advertising and marketing, telecommunications and networking, financial technology and photonics.

Inclusion in the Tech Nation report will give a substantial boost to the national standing of Ipswich and make it easier to attract inward investment.

Once again, success will breed success.
