Ipswich Labour Party has always been on the side of hard-working families. Our elected representatives work tirelessly for decent public services and a fairer society. They can only continue this vital mission for as long as we are successful in getting them elected, and this is an increasingly expensive business.

We spent more than £12,000 on the General Election campaign in 2019 but were still outspent by the Tories, who went on to win. Every year also brings at least one set of local elections – Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk County Council or for Suffolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner. In 2021 we face all three! From printing and distributing newsletters and direct mails to telephone canvassing, online advertising and running our office – getting our message out to voters costs a great deal of money.

The Tories can call on millionaires for support, and regularly do so, with big donations from a few wealthy individuals and companies. Our strength comes in numbers, from the sheer people power generated by our many supporters.

As little as £1.50 a year per paid up member of the Labour Party is distributed to constituencies by Head Office. So, we must fundraise at a local level to ensure we have the financial firepower needed to keep up our work for Ipswich people.

There are three ways that you can help Ipswich Labour to put up a strong fight:

1. Join the Red Rose Labour Tote

Win up to £25,000 in the Red Rose Labour Tote
Win up to £25,000 in the Red Rose Labour Tote

Our flagship fundraising scheme, the Red Rose Labour Tote, launched on 10 November 2020. This is the successor to the hugely popular door-to-door Tote scheme that ran for more than 60 years, but which we had to suspend amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

With a weekly draw every Saturday each £1 ticket has a one in fifty chance of winning a cash prize and a shot at winning the £25,000 jackpot. You can join by debit card or Direct Debit.

2. Join the 100 Club

The 100 Club is our monthly supporter’s draw with a £100 prize. Each share costs £2.50, payable by standing order. We recommend online sign-up, where you establish your own standing order payment via telephone or online banking. Alternatively, download the paper standing order form and return it to our office and we’ll do the rest:

3. Make a Donation

The simplest way to support our work financially is to make a donation. One-off donations can be made by Visa or Mastercard. Or you can make a regular monthly or annual donation by Direct Debit – giving this way really helps us to establish a steady income and enables us to plan more effectively for the longer term. Either way, donating through the button below ensures 100% of your gift comes to the local party in Ipswich with all overheads and transaction fees covered by Labour Head Office.

We understand not all our supporters will be in a position to contribute financially, maybe you can volunteer some time instead?
