I’ve served Gipping for 30 years and I’m standing to make sure residents get faster answers and better results—bringing together local and county issues into one strong voice for our community. - David Ellesmere

I’ve lived in Ipswich since the early 1990s and have worked locally as a software developer, building both my career and my life in the town. Over that time, I’ve developed a strong connection to the community and a deep understanding of the issues that matter most to residents.

I have had the privilege of representing Gipping on Ipswich Borough Council for 30 years, including serving as Leader of the Council from 2011 to 2023. Throughout that time, I’ve made it a priority to stay visible and accessible—delivering leaflets and knocking on doors across the ward many times, listening to residents and acting on their concerns.

I’m proud of what has been achieved in Gipping, from building new council homes to investing in local amenities like new play areas in Gippeswyk and Chantry parks, upgrading Hawthorn Drive shops, and supporting community groups. These are real improvements that make a difference to people’s daily lives.

However, I know that many of the issues residents raise—such as potholes, parking restrictions, and school placements—fall under the responsibility of Suffolk County Council, and too often these problems take far too long to resolve. That’s frustrating for residents, and it’s something I want to change.

I’m standing to provide a stronger link between local and county services—a “one-stop shop” for residents—so that issues are dealt with more quickly and effectively. I already have a list of priorities that I’m determined to push forward, and I’m ready to get to work delivering for the people of Gipping.
