Martin Cook
Borough Councillor, Gainsborough Ward
Martin was first elected to the Borough Council in 1995 and has represented Gainsborough Ward since 2008. Employed as a Senior Manager with Openreach, based at Adastral Park, Martin has lived in Ipswich all his working life.
At a local level, Martin is sad to see the achievements of the last Labour Government, such as Sure Start and the neighbourhood policing base on Clapgate Lane, being dismantled as a result of Tory austerity.
Meanwhile, many people in Gainsborough are struggling day-to-day as a result of cruel Conservative policies like the Bedroom Tax and cuts to benefits and tax credits.
As part of the Ipswich Labour team he is proud to be fighting back and helping to protect the local services that people in Gainsborough rely on.
