An Ipswich man has been ordered to pay more than £1,800 for illegally dumping waste on private land.

Mr Petrauskas of Geneva Road was successfully prosecuted by Ipswich Borough Council for dumping around 25 refuse bags of waste onto private land in Anglesea Road in October 2022.

Following an investigation by Ipswich Borough Council Environmental Protection officers, Mr Petrauskas refused to attend an interview under caution, so was prosecuted.

Pleading guilty, Mr Petrauskas appeared at Ipswich Magistrates Court for sentencing on 27 March 2023 and fined £1,820.

Councillor Alasdair Ross, Executive Member for Community Protection and Health said: “This conviction is more evidence of the work that our Labour run council continues to do to keep our town clean.  If you dump rubbish, we will come after you.”
